Man And Woman Is A Star* is a desert island disc for me, hands down. “Lights In My Brain” remains a favorite from that album.

Back after a short break with a new installment of Trust in Dust Radio!

Show 19 for Trust In Dust features the brand new Cosmogramma by Flying Lotus as Album of the Week. Can’t really heap enough praise on this album. It’s been hyped to death over the past few months but still, on hearing it all the way through for the first time my mind was blown. And it bears repeated listening too. Do yourself a favour & pick it up.

Also worth a mention is the awesome EP by Pursuit Grooves called “Fox Trot Mannerisms”. Really great progressive music & we feature a couple of tracks off that in the show.

Back for 2010, I take a little time to pay respect to the living
legacies of Guru, Malcolm McLaren, and Steve Reid. “Lauretta”
wouldn’t get out of my head after McLaren died and I’m not sure how
many people would even reference his Fans EP, seeing as how it’s this
weird combination of R&B with operatic arias. Outside of that, just
playing some releases from this year and last year that have captured
my interest, bringing along some cuts from previous years to tie
together the loose ends.

Back on my listening room/side room selections thing again. Been way
from it too long. It feels good to be back. Hope this one finds you
in a good place…

Rather belated it may be but this bittersweet Valentine’s tear-jerker rates as one of my most enjoyable shows of recent times, probably because it has 3 or 4 of my favourite ever tunes in it; Viktor Vaughn’s failed mack-daddy approach to a relationship sets the tone with ‘Let Me Watch’, there are scathing barbs from the usually serene Bill Withers and Plaid’s exceptional remix of Bjork’s ‘All Is Full Of Love’ was (until 2hrs before the show started) an undiscovered gem that’s surpassed all other versions in my opinion.

A pile of unplayed vinyl on the floor of the studio means that there’s more than enough material to come up with a sequel to this show should the fancy take me. If I don’t get it together then there’s always next year’s show…x
